Your licence key, which computers are using it, and how to free one up when you move to a new PC.
Everything here lives in your Polar account — Polar is our reseller and handles the money, so they hold the record of what you bought. Cygtree keeps no customer list of its own.
Polar will email you a sign-in link. Use the address you bought with — that is the only thing tying the account to you.
Moving to a new computer
Your key remembers the computers it has been activated on, and a reinstalled Windows counts as a different one.
The easy way, from inside Cygtree
On the old computer open Settings → License and press Deactivate this machine. That frees the slot straight away. Nothing on your boards is touched and the key stays yours — type it in again on the new computer whenever you like.
If you cannot reach the old computer
Open your account above, find the licence key, and remove the activation from there. Same result — the slot comes back and the new computer can take it.
Lost your key?
It was emailed to you when you bought or started a trial, and it is in your
account above as well. A trial key starts CygTreeT- and a full
one starts CygTreeP-.
